KUBLAI MILLAN’S ART FOR LOVE EXHIBIT

Love is in the air, indeed. It is the month when love is expressed in its fullest form. And finally, I actually got invited to Mr. Kublai Millans’s “Art for LOVE for Art” exhibit and launching of his coloring book (which contains all of his majestic pieces) held at the Gaisano Mall of Davao Atrium. This is actually my first time attending an art exhibit and first ever invite as a blogger. It feels so surreal. Haha.

Kublai Millan, rarely known as Ray Mudjahid Ponce Millan is one of Mindanao’s pride and was born on the 8th of July 1974 in Cotabato City. He is a well-renowned sculptor specializing in giant sculptures. He was the man behind two giant works namely: “Kampilan” by Sultan Kudarat in the City of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, and the “Risen Christ” in Tagum City. Also, he is responsible for the giant durian monument in Davao International Airport, the giant Eagle and Bagobo children in People’s Park, Davao City. Aside from being a sculptor, he is also a painter, digital artist, art photographer, and performance artist.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the exhibit was made available to the public audience. It was definitely an honor for me to see some of his wonderful creations. You would feel that each stroke of his brush and the intricate details of his creation is fueled by passion and his advocacy to promote our culture and tradition. All of his works during the exhibit is actually for sale. Mr. Millan’s exhibit took the audience on a journey with his twists and turns on love exemplified in his work of art. The designs revolved on the theme- Pinagkaisa ng Pagkakaiba (Unified by Differences).
